So the experimenting with hair products has officially begun. I played around with products when I first shaved my hair and didn't have much hair to work with. Now after almost 3 months since my last cut I've gotten an idea of what my hair texture is like: my curls are very coily with kinks and super straight pieces through out. My hair is so coily, it looks as if my hair isn't growing much. It's a little frustrating.
My hair texture is a very frizzy one. Even though I wash my hair with conditioner every day and use oil to moisturize my hair, the kinky and straight bits have absolutely no idea what to do with themselves. I was growing tired of my hair looking unkempt because I take so much care of my hair. I got online and began looking for what to do with my annoying hair texture. I found my "hair twin" on YouTube whose videos follow her from her cutting all of her hair off to one year of hair growth. Her hair is exactly like mine! She posted a video with a technique to give your hair some texture and she used an amazing product!It's great. It's organic. It has everything that you could possibly want in a hair product. It smells great and produces even better results. It has a very cool whipped texture. It's not harsh or watery like a gel. It goes on smooth when applied to your hair. It's great. The following is the technique I used to give my hair some shape. Little did I know that it would tame my frizz!If you can't tell, it made my teeny-tiny little coils a little more defined while blending the super straight bits of my hair with the curly ones. I love it. Afterwards my hair feels clean and moisturized. I don't know about your family, but my family constantly suggests that I should be dating casually as a young woman. Not settling with just one guy, but rather getting to know a couple of them at a time, letting them take you out, go to the movies, eat, have fun (much emphasis on that word). Yeah, I was totally into that the minute I started high school. It thought was so exclusive...

I started dating my current boyfriend, Rene, towards the end of my sophomore year in high school. I was about sixteen then. I'm eighteen now, a freshman in college, turning nineteen very soon. Yes, I started this "committed relationship" thing very young, and looking back, I didn't have any idea what I was doing. I do know that I felt very much in love. When I began dating him, I didn't tell my mom because I knew that she would not have understood and probably would have thought the feelings I had for him were young and silly. My mom didn't find out that we were officially dating until the conclusion of my senior year in high school, though she always had some idea because me and Rene were ALWAYS together.

Lately, both my mom and my grandmother have sort of been hinting to me to give up the days of commitment while I'm fresh and young. My grandfather had been telling me that the minute he knew of Rene. If I had trouble finding commitment in relationships and grew tired of them, I would definitely date casually. But I don't plan on ending my relationship with my boyfriend anytime soon because I'm happy. Maybe if they could understand how happy I am, they would feel differently.

During Thanksgiving, a family member of mine joked that if Rene and I had kids, their heads would be really big. The whole table began to laugh, as did I, but my grandma looked really disturbed and said, "Nuh uh that won't be happening! She needs to get around and meet new people,". Before she could finish, one of her sisters exclaimed that I didn't have to and I asserted myself as well. But my aunt went on to poke fun and say I could do like Kim Kardashian, marry him and just give it at least 72 days. I thought that was funny. But I thought about what my grandma had said and I was a little bummed.

My grandma married my grandpa at 17 years old. They left Louisiana and ran away to California together (So romantic, I know!) and my grandma gave birth to my mom at 18 years old! My great-grandmother married and had kids young, too. This wasn't uncommon for their generation, practically everyone did it. I'd hate to think that my grandma is warning me not to fall in love at a young age because she regrets it. I remember my grandpa telling me that he just wishes he had invested in an education, but other than that I believe they're happy.

A lot of people say that when you're in a committed relationship at a young age, you hinder yourself from personal growth. That statement is absolutely misleading. When you're young, committed, and obsessed, you hinder yourself from personal growth. And I believe this applies to ALL relationships (I believe all relationships are the same whether their friendships or romance).

Sometimes I do get a little worried. Sometimes I do wonder if investing so much of myself into my relationship would come back to bite me. I know that it's wise to listen to those that are older and more experienced than me, but I also know that relationships are like snowflakes, and that relationship advice is not one size fits all. I want to live life with no regrets and I know that every step is a lesson. I don't want to look back years from now and wonder why I'm not with the man of dreams because I ditched him to "get to know other people". Ugh God. Sometimes imagine what my love life would be like now if I continued to ignore the feelings Rene and I shared before we began dating and went a different route. I don't even know. But I'm glad I made that huge risk, even though I was scared and had no idea what I was doing.

Anyway, long story short: I love my boyfriend. He loves me. We're young. We're dumb. But we grow as incredible human beings together which makes the ride a whole lotta fun. I want to marry him one day. I don't see why not because he's good for me!

Age ain't nothing but a number.

My family happily moved me in to my dorm room yesterday afternoon in blazing hot Texas sun. We had lunch afterwards then they dropped me off to start this new experience on my own. So far, it's pretty cool. My roommate i nice, I love my room: it's clean, organized and it's way better than the room I have at home.
This week is Panthercamp: Freshman Orientation which consists heavily with speakers telling us what is yet to come for our first year in college.
But other than that I'm extremely excited and surprisingly, I'm itching to get started on my studies!

hair transition part 2

So, I did end up getting my hair braided, but it turned out to be disaster. It was styled completely wrong. Nothing went as I had pictured it. I took them down the next morning. They were already coming out by then, anyway!

So now that braids aren't an option right now, I'm headed to the salon first thing in the morning and starting at the basics of hair care! I might have to chop my hair off to get rid of the breakage and the damage from the hair color. So be it!

I love wearing this wrap on days I don't feel like doing my hair, or if I just want a different look. It makes me feel pretty elegant. Along with the scarf I'm wearing an American Apparel crop top, a second-hand skirt and Steve Madden wedges.

I'm in the process of growing out my hair from it's super duper short length (Archive Jan 2011). For the process, I've been wearing my hair in weaves to keep from putting too much stress on it. I made the mistake of dying and highlighting it, causing my hair to break off. It's so brittle now. Cute color, but probably the worst color-treatment experience I've ever had.

I went on a date with my boyfriend tonight. We had a great dinner at Pei Wei and then caught a movie. We watched "Friends with Benefits" and it was way better than I thought it would be.

I used to hate the frilly girly socks look, but I've really gotten into it lately. I have a white pair and a black pair. I'm also getting really into socks and heels. When I shop, I make sure my heels fit well enough to wear with socks. It's something I never really got into and I'm now excited to try it. I've also gotten really into platform wedges. I can't get enough. Anything with a chunky heel has my attention right now.

I love these shoes, but they're a bit too big. Without the straps that wrap around the ankle, they're a bit complicated to walk in. I made a mistake by slapping on some lotion before wearing these heels, my feet were sliding like mad!

I've realised that clothes shouldn't be taken so seriously. I really want to begin experimenting with different shapes and textures and forms.

Yesterday, I had a wonderful time celebrating my birthday with some good friends.

That was my outfit by the end of the night.
Men's GAP shirt and American Apparel double U-dress worn as skirt, Forever 21 leather jacket and boots.

My outfit began as this, but things changed.

My friends and I rode the bus to Downtown Dallas and had some wonderful pizza.

We took the train to one of my favorite shopping areas, Mockingbird Station, and just relaxed. It started to rain on us.

We then went to Northpark Mall.

While at Northpark, in Forever21, my shoe's sole was hanging by a thread! I had to purchase some before we left because with every step, I was afraid that the sole was going to come off completely.

I tried on some amazing trousers and bebe and purchased those babies in an instant after trying them on. I've been looking for some good pants! A dream come true. The shoes that I tried with the pants looked great, but I couldn't afford them. Instead, I bought some look alikes at Forever21.

And that was my birthday. I was so happy to shop and to see everyone!

I've been having dreams of being unprepared for things. A couple of days ago I had a dream about being unprepared for a play. Last night I had a dream of being unprepared for a fashion show. In my dream, I was the coordinator, but the opening night of the fashion show, I had no clothes, I barely had any models--it was a nightmare.

This is Sunday's outfit, I wore it yesterday.

I don't know where I got the denim jacket. Its really old. Blouses from Macy's, Forever 21 skirt and shoes, and my trusty belt from the thrift.

Ugh man. School starts tomorrow. I don't want to go, I've enjoyed my break. Now I have to return to nagging students and teachers and my worst enemy, uniforms. I hate DISD.
Well, I have to get the last of what I need to do for school done.

I went to my cousin's birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese's today. It was nice until more people started showing up. I enjoyed myself, though.
After that we headed to my grandparents' house and had some gumbo. My family members were disoriented by my outfit today. They thought I was wearing a dress that came above my butt and some tights. I had to explain to them that I'm wearing leggings as pants today, but they went on about how my shirt is not long enough and blah blah blah. They always have something to say about what I wear, its always something! They also constantly remind me of how skinny my legs are, as if I forget. I've always wanted more shapelier legs. Especially my thighs. The leggings I wore today did not help at all. They make my butt look flat and sucked in. Ughhh.

I don't know where I got the jacket or the turtleneck or belt from, but the leggings are from Wal-Mart, the boots are from Forever 21 as well as my bag.

I visited my cousin Sonia today in her suburban home, far beyond the city. She invited our family to come eat and the food was good. There was rice and gravy, which I'm crazy about. I had a good time. After eating, I went shopping with my aunt and her daughter (my college bound cousin!).

I absolutely adore these heels! They make my feet look small. :) But they're amazing, and I feel like I leave magical clicks with every step! They're a snug fit, I suppose nobody tried them on in the store. While riding in the car, I felt like my circulation was cut off in my feet! But after giving the shoes a second chance, it felt as if the shoes were made just for me. Either they stretched out, or my feet got used to them.

A couple of days ago, we took a trip to Northpark Mall to go shopping. The first stop on the bus was Mockingbird Station, where we purchased a cute dress at American Apparel. Then we finally headed to the trains downstairs, but while purchasing the tickets, that same guy that asked us for money last time used the same excuse and asked for dollar. Wonder why he can't just be honest.

I made some amazing purchases at Forever 21.

When some people go to American Apparel, of whom I suppose have never gone before, I noticed that they treat the store like its some sort of exhibit. "Oh, look at that!" "Oh my gosh, how can someone wear that?" "Legalize Gay?!"
I find it both funny and annoying.

I really hate my room. It's just a big room of nothing. It has no theme. There's a bunch of crap everywhere. I hate my room.

I enjoyed my Christmas yesterday. I unwrapped a new camera, a Pentax K-m. Finally, an SLR! It was great, but as I examined it, I noticed that it required regular batteries, not the rechargeable plug-up battery that most cameras these days come with. We had to send it back. Lithium batteries are expensive.
Today my mom and I went to Best Buy to get another camera and the Pentax was sent back to the post office. I proposed my Pentax goodbye and welcomed my new Nikon D3000. I love it.

I'm reading this book called CloudCry and so far its been about some guy called Verrons who has a disease and is sent to a quarantine planet. He teams up with a few people, one of them including a territorial "bird-man alien". They find these tribal humanoids with interesting flutes. When Verrons steals one of the flutes and uses it, beautiful mesmerizing light comes out. The lights turn out to be possessive spirits of the dead ancient city where the humanoids live. There's another character called Aleida of whom they all meet, who has enormous mental powers. The book describes her as "brown-skinned", I think that's really cool.
I have to keep reading, its very interesting.

Ayer, the electricity went out in the neighborhood at around 10am and didn't return until 5am! There was nothing at all to do except chill outside till dark. I rode my bike around the neighborhood.

But today, I enjoyed myself with him; first at Chipotle, then to the mall. It was nice.

I'm not really into cheesy graphic tees, but there was something about this one I loved. It was bought by him.Thank you. :)

Today was the laziest day I've had in a while. I literally stayed in the same spot all day playing GTA IV.
Hopefully, the rest of summer won't be this dull.

School's out. Summer begins.
School let out today (or yesterday, I'm writing at 1:30a), and it didn't really hit me until later on today.
School let out incredibly early so we headed off to eat then to the mall.
Today was a good day.

I've had a strange taste for smooth R&B lately. I ran through my dad's old CD collection and dug up D'Angelo's album, Brown Sugar. I can't get enough.

school has gone into overdrive now that we only have about 4 or 5 more weeks.
it's crazy, and it's driving me insane. I seriously cannot wait till school is over. But I am going to miss my friends, and the environment the most. And jeez, leave the school work there!

I went to a tea party/graduation party thingy for my cousin.
It was so lovely!

Day One of Spring Break has begun and so far, it's been very boring.
Today I was stuck at home with my little brothers with nothing to eat but noodles de la cup and frozen chicken nuggets.

My dad is going to purchase an XBOX 360. It's about time!

I went bowling with my family on Saturday. It was much fun!
The alley was of an old building and inside smelled like cigarettes, but the atmosphere was very lively! The bowling shoes that were provided were very cool as well. I should have photographed them, but they were highlighter yellow, pink, and green.
